Ouch! That Needle Prick

But just a little. I’m used to this. Lab tests once again. I’m not afraid of the little needle but what I do not want is the fasting. Without having any intake of food or water during last meal at night makes me really weak in the morning before taking that blood specimen. I have no choice but to wait especially if there are also other patients who get in there first. I hope that results are fine. This is probably part of our lives when age progresses. Do you have fear of that little needle?

Hey! Just compose your mind. It's just little and would not take much longer. I'm about to get mad at the lab tech because she did not find the vein immediately and need to repeat the procedure more than five times and still unable. I requested her to stop when I feel the pain. I told her to call the in-charge lab tech to take the sample. I think she's an OJT.

@ilocosboy Yes. I did not complain about it not until I felt minimal pain because it would take much longer hadn't I do that.

I'm used to it especially if the technician is already an expert. There are some newbies perhaps afraid of their patient and can't do that immediately at ease.

Fasting is usually done to patients with high sugar levels in their bloodtest. This will ensure that when it is elevated even though you have fasted means there is a serios sugar problem happening in you.

@ZedSmart Yes that is really needed else if you cheated the results may not show your real blood sugar situation.

FBS was included that's why. It's like a torture because I can't imagine the hunger I need to undergo because of the procedure.

We just can't avoid it during vaccination and lab tests.

@jstory07 It can really inflict fear because we know that there's some pain in it unless it's accidental like getting a wound.

Not scared of the needles though. What scares me actually is the results from the laboratory. They are horrifying.

Yes. That's true. We know what it means if the results are beyond the normal range.

for me, the fasting and waiting is harder, too. i didn't have vein problems when i was younger, but now, they have to try both arms.

Sometimes, techs have hard time locating that vein but for some it's just easy. It perhaps vary according to their skills especially on the newbie.
