does anyone have any strange traditions? our tradition is my family makes "leftover pizza" the day after Thanksgiving. we take a bit of our Thanksgiving feast leftovers and put it on a cheese pizza. Turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, a bit of everything. it sounds weird...but it tastes so good! or another one we have is on Christmas Eve we are each allowed to open one present. do you have any weird traditions?

I love that idea of the left over pizza! Our traditions aren't strange, we have a big dinner on Christmas Eve, then leftovers on Christmas day. We read the Christmas story from the Bible on Christmas morning, then we take turns opening gifts.

This isn't a weird tradition, but every since my daughter was born 19 years ago, we have gone to Disney World for Christmas every year. At first, we would celebrate Christmas at home and then go, but now we go to Disney on Christmas Eve and stay through New Year's Day. Every year I ask the kids, would you rather skip Disney and get lots of great presents, or get a few smaller presents and go to Disney? Every year they scream in excitement, "We want to go to Disney!"

@isweartokira I've always got room for one more! Feel free to join us! It's like double the fun when we go...Christmas to start the vacation, and New Years to end the vacation!

I would say squirrels are our family tradition. About thirty years ago my brother lived on and maintained a church campground. Once he was narrowly missed by a falling branch and said the squirrels were out to get him because there was one looking at him and chattering. The whole family sends him squirrel pictures and stuffed toys and figurines of squirrels. One Thanksgiving when we still had young kids present, I brought copies of a picture of a squirrel. The kids (and adults) colored them and hid them. Inside video cases, as book marks, inside cabinets, you name it. I do not remember how many we did. I find myself wondering if he still finds them. He and his wife have had several run ins with deer in recent years. The squirrels must be paying them to attack the cars.

No, nothing out the ordinary. You might want to start a new craze with those pizza toppings

I'm not sure if it's a weird tradition but my missus still gives our grown sons stockings at Christmas. She fills them with neat things like back up battery cell phone chargers, multi-tools, miniflashlights, and their favorite candy.

@1creekgirl When (If) our boys ever marry and when (if) we ever have grandbabies, I'm sure the stockings for them will be filled with many wonderful things.

We still put up stockings of all the family members, too. "Santa" AKA Mama fills them with candy and a small gift.

Well, being Italian I am a bit picky about pizza. I cannot remember traditions that I would call weird in my family.

Nothing really weird but when my parents were alive and all through the years I have followed Latvian Christmas tradition. That is when you open presents on Christmas Eve. When I lived in Riga, Latvia and my husband was alive we had a discussion about the fact that Christmas was the birth of Christ. So to really celebrate this joyous event we had Christmas Eve dinner at 10 PM and then at midnight which would actually already make it Christmas Day we opened presents and listened to Christmas songs and read some passages from the Bible.

When a child is always crying at night we threw away some salt in the window calling out their name so the unseen forces will not disturb the child.

Oh, I'm sorry, though I understand. There's a few family members on my dad's side that I no longer see because of bad family vibes too. it's a shame

That's a GREAT tradition!. When I was married we did non-traditional meals for holidays like crown roast for Thanksgiving and one year we let our kids (and us) make pizzas with anything they wanted. Of course, my husband chose lobster and an expensive cheese for his but it was very fun!!

Some traditions are strange enough, like going out on Halloween night and wearing costumes and masks asking for treats from strangers and expecting not to have any dental issues later on. That is strange to me although it is apparent people do this only because it is a tradition. The best tradition I think would be for me would be like: hand out toothpaste and tooth brushes to all the little children and hope they brush their teeth after eating all that candy.
