Day 49 Luke 12:6 Luke 12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. What is your perception of yourself? Do you feel worthy of the work you’re doing? Or do you feel you’re not worthy for anything? If you grew up in an environment that praised your achievements, encouraged you when you faced what looked like insurmountable odds, and someone told you, you could accomplish whatever you set out to do, then chances are you feel worthy of the task you’ve undertaken. However, if you grew up in an environment that was just the opposite, and told you would never amount to anything, and you wouldn’t go anywhere in life, you probably don’t feel worthy of anything you want to do. Jesus told the people no one is forgotten by God. He cares about the sparrow, and he cares about you. He knows the number of hairs on your head, and unless you’re bald, you don’t know that number. As Christians, depending on the environment you grew up in, you might not feel worthy of the calling on your life. You might need to push past all the negative feelings you grew up with and tell yourself two things: you’re loved and you’re worthy. Many Christians today need to remind themselves God cares for sparrows and God cares for you. Remember when God called you and you didn’t think yourself worthy of the calling, God doesn’t call the equipped, he equips the called. You need to trust God when he tells you he loves and cares about you, and you are worthy of what he called you to do. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for letting me know I’m worthy of what you called me to do. Help me remember you know everything about me, even the number of hairs on my head when I start feeling unworthy of my calling. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
