Sometimes you just have to say NO!

Let me state at the outset that I am quite open-minded about what I eat and how I combine ingredients when cooking. I think apple with roast pork is great, and I just adore stewed lamb with apricot. As for some of the really weird things I have eaten... well, let's save that for another post
But there are some things that are just wrong. I mean, who in their right mind would want to eat pork sausages with chocolate chips in them

What do you think about this - would you be prepared to try these - just once?

@NormanDarlo Sorry for the typo, it was a BIG NO. I had that interesting combinations in Freeport, in the Bahamas and I found it very good.

"A bit no" - well put, Anna! I'm a bit reticent about mustard (except for mustard seeds in Indian cooking), but shrimps and marmalade sounds like something that could interest me - where did you come across such an interesting combination?

@LadyDuck Well, I took the same meaning from 'a bit no' - as a kind of understatement
Thanks for putting the dish into context; it makes sense to me a little now!

I know Germany is reputed to be the best Wurst place in Europe, but for Lidl to offer this, I doubt the average palate from ant European nation would be wooed by such a combination... (the pricing label on the shelf looks distinctly Lidlesque, or Lidlich...!).

@NormanDarlo I have had a wonderful Mexican main dish that contained cocoa, very tasty and nothing like your average bar of Galaxy, Yorkie or Toblerone.
Have you seen the film Chocolat (Juliette Binoche, Alfred Molina, Johnny Depp and Judi Dench, among others)? Very enjoyable, and the birthday party scene uses chocolate in a number of different ways - to be recommended as one to see, if you can find a copy.

Well observed - it is indeed Lidlich! And even in my Wurst nightmares, I cannot imagine myself indulging. Unless there was money involved, of course...

@pgntwo I remember the film well! Loved it
I think chocolate in the form of unsweetened cocoa powder is versatile enough to be included in many savoury recipes, but chocolate chips in sausages...

Norman, since I do not eat pork first of all would say no to that and then adding chocolate chips is really really weird.

I do not eat fruit with meat. I like beef or chicken.

@Hannihar I like beef and chicken too (and lamb, and venison, and goat...) and I have enjoyed some sublime fruit+meat combinations inspired by Moroccan, Persian and Indian cuisines. Fruit is one thing, chocolate chips are another

Sure! But even imagine it with a meat you are comfortable with, say turkey!

honestly i would try it, I'll try anything once...not to be gross but this sounds like something I'd eat when on my period when you just have a craving for anything deep fried and covered in chocolate. I feel like this would hit the spot then

Really, Bree? I didn't even know women got such cravings when they had their period - I obviously have lived a sheltered life! During pregnancy, yes, I've seen this firsthand, but not when menstruating

@NormanDarlo it was really goo and they still haven’t scraped it off the menu so I’m thinking it does sell. I’m trying to figure out how custard tastes.
Fish fingers go well with spike or Cajun for me.

My son likes fish fingers with custard - but he got that from an episode of Doctor Who!

@normandarlo In a word, no. In two words, definitely not. Some things are plain wrong and that’s one of them.

Well, lots of people eat pork sausages and chocolate - separately - both of which are fine if you don't overdo it!
