My big brother is home for a 3 - week vacation. He brought home branches from his apple tree with some hanging fruits yet. He also packed a small box of apples both big and small and these look good to munch.
I will be here later my fellow users. We are helping my brother unpack his baggage.

To me that's the best kind sweet and crunchy apples. Now apples are on sale at grocery stores on Oahu. I guess I'll get some soon. Happy munching on apples and a wonderful family reunion time, just right for the holidays!

@oahuwriter even though the apples are of different sizes, we cannot consume them all. so we gave some to our laundry woman for her young kids

@josie_ my late mother went there already and my brother wanted her to join bingo socials, but she preferred to stay at home and plant. my brother's garden is full of flowering plants by my mother's green thumb.

Oh I bet he has many "pasalubongs" for everyone! And I bet he has brought some canned hams and corned beefs. and of course chocolates.
So, how does that those apples taste compared to Fuji apples. What is the name of that variety of apples?

@ridingbet Yes, I know. But of course pasalubongs are part of one going home from abroad.
Yes, if those canned goods are a plenty, then you should share them with other people such as those.

we are not for the pasalubongs. he brought some medicines though. the canned goods he sends through 'balikbayan ' boxes but only every 2-3 years. humbly, we still have many imported canned goods and we share some of them to the garbage collectors, the laundry woman, and other neighbors.

@ridingbet I hope he had not to pay for extra weight, now the airways companies are so strict.

@LadyDuck he actually paid an excess of 300 pounds, maybe due too to the branches which he said was seen on x-ray machine when his luggage passed through the machine.

@DianneN i think here in the airport, some things can be brought in as long as they are not illegal.

really? my big brother wrapped the branches with bubble-wrap and when his luggage passed through the x-ray machine, there were no sounds heard so it was safe but still he paid 300 pounds for that.

Looks so sweet. Are you planning to plant that branch of apple tree?

@Courage7 when we were in Kuwait, some cooked food packed by our mother (these were deep-frozen) were captured by the airport police. that is why when he went to UK, he did not bring along the foods cooked by our mother; instead, he himself cooked there in his house already

of course it was seen on X-Ray and it was fruit and not cooked food.

That's nice. I love eating apples once in a while. They are healthy. And as they say, an apple a day, keep the doctor away.
