I have a decent selection of descriptive words in my brain but I seem to have a few vocabulary ruts that are getting worn rather deep.
If something is funny I will state that it was hilarious. Definitely, fortunately, and actually are all words that I tend to overuse both verbally and when I’m writing.
Fortunately, I some friends who are good at coming up with hilarious solutions to problems that are actually pretty mundane. I definitely need to ask them for some suggestions.

Whenever I recognize a tendency to overuse certain words I try to look for alternatives.

I was in that rut once. I began to use more words instead. Instead of Ohhh, I like that, I began to say, that is fabulous!
But I cannot stop cussing! I tried the old Fudge as a replacement but the brain goes back to the old ways of speech.

I've never been in the habit of cussing bur I have been known to amuse my children by spelling random words instead. OH F-O-O-T or S-H-O-E. Over the years a few of their friends have looked concerned when I started with the F and were giggling by the time I was done

I don't have any problem finding synonyms. The challenge is getting out of the rut I'm stuck in and actually using something different for a change.

I use 'wonderful', 'amazing' and 'great' over and over. I need to find some new words too. I'm into 'pretty' too as in pretty much etc and 'just'. And a lot of 'just this', 'just that'.
