2014 - Spoiler alerts
Watched The Borderlands last night - genuinely creepy film, certainly one of the best found footage films I have seen with hints of the Wicker Man and a surprisingly Lovecraftian ending
I think it works best for not having incidental music to foreshadow its events and the natural dialogue between the investigators gives it a sense of realism too - great little movie - a highlight of the Halloween week screenings on TV this year.
Two investigators hired by the Vatican are sent to Devon, England, to investigate alleged miracles in an obscure village church, reopened recently after being closed for over two hundred tears. The Priest there has seen objects on the altar move by themselves and captured it on film.
The investigators are sceptical, and use sophisticated radio equipment to pin point noises but things get weird with babies heard screaming in the walls, etc. The Priest commits suicide in a fit of madness.
Two more investigators, one an exorcist as the investigation continues. The local people get ugly, burning a sheep alive, banning the investigators from the pub, and then things go very wrong in the final investigation as some pagan deity far older than the Church turns the catacombs into a living breathing throat with the last survivors trapped in its maw.
Well acted by a relatively unknown cast. It starts off slow but gets very gripping indeed.

Love the way you explain things detailed but so no nonchalant. Its neat, not always my cup of tea, more of a realist as if you did not know but always check out what you like because explain it so well. I actually have heard a bit about this but still say homeland is better. Maybe because American. Will definitely watch that though, pretty sure better than 70 percent out there.

I have not seen this movie, but will have to check it out after reading your post. This is the type of scary movie that I like to watch, not all that in-your-face slasher stuff that is dominant today.
