Seasonal Snacking

Multi-crisp

Not that I spend all my time hanging around the deep fried snack aisle, but I do like to see what new flavours have been invented. As we are approaching that time of the year I was expecting some seasonal tastes and was not disappointed. There was the traditional turkey with stuffing and pigs in blankets. I have heard of pigs in blankets, but was not at all sure what they actually were. Thank goodness for the internet! The two bags in on the left half of the picture I saw in a discount supermarket, while the bags on the right half I spotted in the other supermarket. I guess everyone had the same idea for Christmas. Still being a goody, I didn't buy any of these munchies!

Totally agree, I have a cat so I don't have to put a tree, well known cats pull them down!

When I snack, I prefer "sweet stuff".

I am such a purist. I like my snacks normal flavored or a bit on the hot and spicy side.

@DianneN There is a smallish company that does roast beef and mustard. Now those I would buy and forget my plan not to eat these fatty foods!

I've seen Lays over here, but never gotten any. On my last visit to the US I tried some different flavours, but never finished them

@Ronrybs There are some fun ones but some of them sound pretty gross. Pringles just made a Thanksgiving dinner flavored one.

Various flavours pop up and then disappear just as quickly. How popular they are doesn't seem to affect the decision

@Courage7 I think it is what we get used to. when I have visited the US and tried the chips I did not like the flavours at all. I guess it is the same the other way around

I have not yet decided what we will have for Christmas, but surely not turkey. This year we are only the two of us and I do not want to eat too much.

I like to cut hot dogs in half, and roll a canned biscuit around each half dog, place in the oven on a cookie sheet and bake the same time it takes to bake the biscuits, dip them in mustard or picante sauce until stuffed. Pigs N A blanket have been a regular for us since the 60s.

I've been trying to cut out a lot of foods but in the winter I crave bacon, pork rinds and hot cider. Those pigs in a blanket sound yummy.

@Ronrybs I don't make bacon often but in the winter I love a good BLT or wrap some around a burger before grilling. I don't eat much ham at all.

@leny34 There was a beef and English mustard flavour. Could not taste any beef and while it was hot, it had no mustard flavour as well
