A really fun weekend with the kids!

My husband and I went to Charleston, SC this weekend to see our daughter, her husband and their nine year old son. We stopped at some thrift stores along the way (it's a seven hour trip without stops), so we try to enjoy the long ride. The next day, our daughter and I did some shopping (I found a cute purse, a new pair of sun glasses, and a throw rug for my bathroom) while the guys went to Lowes Home Improvement. Later we all went to the most incredible BBQ place called Lewis' BBQ. It's very rustic and casual...you don't even get plates to eat on, you have squares of waxed paper! We had an assortment of a huge beef rib, beef brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, slaw and the best Jalapeno corn pudding. It was all amazing. The place was packed and I can see why. No frills, but the best meats. Oh, I forgot we also had Texas Hot Guts. It was their house made sausage. We left to drive back home on Sunday and stopped at a McDonald's (I know, but I really, really wanted a McRib). The service was terrible, of course, but the best part was while we were sitting in the parking lot eating our food, there were a ton of purple Martins (birds that look kind of like crows, but they're so black, they look almost purple) and they were used to people feeding them leftovers. A guy in the car next to us was feeding them french fries which the birds would swoop down and grab a fry from his fingers. It was really cool to watch. We threw out our left overs before we drove away. It was a great weekend....I was really missing the kids. Hope you all had a good weekend. Anything special or just relaxing?
