I hope your dinner/supper meal was delicious. Ours was scrumptious. I fried some country ham, potatoes with carrots and onions, fresh cabbage, and biscuits. It was soooo good! I could have eaten another whole plate of seconds, but I resisted. Made a cold pitcher of lemonade to go with the meal...I love to add a little orange juice to my lemonade. I cooked the chopped green cabbage in a small amount of water with bacon grease, salt, and pepper just until tender. Had a little ham and a couple of biscuits left over that will be great with breakfast. My husband's in the back field deer hunting while I sit here myLotting. He'll light a fire in the fire pit out back in a while so we can enjoy that from the shack. It's unseasonably warm here today, but I'm sure not complaining. We both went to the gym this morning...I only used the treadmill and free weights. It was one of those days that everything on me hurts! Later, I made my almost daily trip to Walmart, then bought some fresh shelled pecans from a lady I know. Those will keep nicely in the freezer for the holidays coming up. Hope you all had or will have a great meal. Lots to thank God for!

I like so much fresh shelled pecans, hard to find here. Roasted chicken and potatoes was our dinner.

@1creekgirl Pecans do not grow here, we have plenty of walnuts and hazelnuts, but no pecans.

@LadyDuck Oh, I can't imagine not having pecans! But I do love walnuts, not sure if I've ever had hazelnuts. I like hazelnut flavored coffee creamer, though.

The roasted chicken sounds good. We can get pecans in Walmart, but they're not always fresh. I like buying them locally from people who have their own trees.

He didn't shoot a deer, but just enjoyed watching them in the field. There sure are a lot of blessings to praise God for.

@just4him Not as much as he did years ago. He doesn't belong to any hunting clubs now (we have land to hunt on) and he gets deer meat for our freezer. He enjoys watching the wild life from his deer condo.

Do you make a meat sauce or have meatballs?

@JohnRoberts Do you make your own sauce? I did for years, but now I use Newman's Own Sausage in a jar and doctor it up with Italian seasoning and bay leaves. Once in a while I'll add meatballs to the meat sauce. And I always use ground venison when I have it.

Bet it's warm and cozy by that backyard fire pit! Biscuits always compliment a meal so well. A holiday favorite...
