As luck would have it I am once again on the road traveling for work. After I finished up in Joplin, MO, before heading off to Wichita, KS where I am staying the night and starting my day tomorrow, I got a little hungry. So I decided to shoot off through Parsons, KS to stop at their McDonald's and get a little snack. Did you know that a Filet-O-Fish sandwich is now $6? I mean, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad sandwich and I have not had one in ages. But $6? I doubt I will have it again anytime soon for that price. In any event, I must have not noticed a short section through Parsons that was a school zone with the yellow lights flashing. As I turned to go into McDonald's I saw a cop behind me with his lights on. Apparently I was doing 35 in a school zone where I was only supposed to be doing 20. Oops. He was really nice about it. He recognized I was not from Parsons, KS since my plates are from Illinois. He told me why he stopped me, asked for my driver's license and insurance card, asked me where I was headed and what I was doing in Parsons, and then ran my information. When he came back he basically said people make mistakes, have a nice day, and sent me on my way without issuing me a ticket.

Great that he left you off and didn't give you a ticket. Filet fish aren't even that much here. That is s crazy price.

I think it was probably actually about $4 now that I think about it. I bought two of them and with tax it came to $10.47. Still a lot to my mind though. Yes. I was very happy he was nice about the situation.

That fish sandwich was basically for free! You were very lucky and he was very nice. Why the heck didn't you order the McRib sandwich????

@DianneN I'd have had a lap full of barbeque sauce, or whatever that sauce is, in my lap for sure.

I catch your drift. That could have turned into one very costly snack stop. I didn't get the McRib because I was still driving and the McRib would have been too messy to eat while driving.

See, we can be nice in Kansas. Probably less likely to be nice in Wichita than in Parsons. May I ask where you are headed next?

You are probably right. The cop did say, "What brings you to little Parsons?" Wichita is much bigger and probably has much more crime than Parsons does. After I finish up in Wichita tomorrow morning I'll head down to Kansas City.

@porwest KC is north of Wichita. If you were taking the right route I would wave howdy as you went past. Have a safe trip.

@GardenGerty On my KC trip I usually hit my first stop in Springfield, MO. Then I head to Joplin. From there I go to Wichita. Then it's KC, both on the Kansas and Missouri side. Then it's back home to Belleville, IL.

I should have, let me tell you. After I thought about it, it wasn't quite that much. I bought two and paid $10.47 with tax. Still a lot per sandwich though.

You got a fish sandwich? What happened to mcrib lol. Well that was very nice of the cop to just let you go like that. Cops around here can be a pain.

@porwest Yeah mcribs are a pain to eat while driving and we don't deal with them to often around here but when we do we always get the ones that want to make there own rules.

Well, I was driving, so it was an "on-the-go- sandwich, and McRibs are generally not anything I would consider "on-the-go." Those darn things are messy as hell. As for cops, I generally support them, and respect them. But yes. They can really be jerks. Luckily I rarely ever have to deal with them.

I was surprised at how friendly he was. It could have been bad. As for traveling for work, it gets me away from my wife for a bit. I LOVE her, don't get me wrong. But I think she enjoys it too.

Now I feel cheated. After I actually did the math they were not as expensive as I thought, but still way more expensive than I expected. I paid $10.47 after tax for two. 2 for $5 would have been more up my alley.
