This is not the first time that I received similar text messages.
Today, I received another one and the sender is pretending to be from one of the TV networks in my country. The text states that I won an amount of 380K Php (more or less 7.5K USD) from their early Christmas Offering. It says further that I should send my personal information to process the payment of my prize and at the end, the person revealed her name and pretending to be a lawyer.
I’m a big fan of this local TV station. In fact I joined promos from them and won myself minor prize. I know the current promo they have and there’s no such prize given away as the text scam indicated.
Who wouldn’t have wanted that prize? It’s very interesting and too good to be true. I’m no fool to believe so I should not follow your command.
Not me scammer. You better try your luck next time!

Still getting those pesky spam and scam text messages on your mobile phones? One of the ways you can do to get rid of them is to report those numbers to

Interesting.
That article is 4 years old though, I wonder if it works. I hope it does.
A while back, I called some hotline number (can't remember what - I think it might be an NTC number (National Telecommunications Commission)) to report a scam text like the one described in this post. But sadly, what I was told was: they can only take note of it but they can't do anything really unless a complainant files charges.
I don't know. It was some time ago and I can't remember anymore the conversation I had with the hotline person. But it struck me as weird because... I need to go out of my way to file a formal complaint just so they could block this number that's sending out this scam messages? I would have thought it was within their power or responsibility to look into reports such as mine and take action on their own.

@moirai it's always free to search for an updated one but the priciple remains the same, we have agencies to handle such cases and I hope they live up to what they are tasked to do, laws, ordinances and agencies do stick on for quite some time.

This also happens to me. One time when I was working, my 3rd Brother called me and asked me if I'm okay.
They received a message telling them that I was in the hospital because I was hit by a car and that I was told to text the number, the sender was asking for a 100 load. Too bad, my Brother loads the 100 pesos to my own number and not to the number who tried to scam us.
