America is Traveling.

United States

I haven't been online a lot today. I have, however, seen that it's been quite quiet the times I have checked mylot. I guess America is Traveling. Those who aren't traveling, are preparing. I am doing neither. I will travel tomorrow, but only a few minutes down the road, and I won't be doing any of the cooking. I cooked today, but that was for dinner today. What was your Thanksgiving Responsibilities this year? For those who aren't celebrating (or who already have - Canada's Thanksgiving), what have you been up to today?

I hope that people are organizing something for the survivors of the wildfires out west.

@Plethos Ah, that makes sense. I, however, am a bit of a pig around this time of year. I am going on a walk before I go to my aunt's though.

I live in England and we don't have Thanks Giving like the people in the United States of America do. I travelled to California in 2001 and was offered a Thanks Giving meal. I said no thanks. I had such a lovely time exploring in that November. I don't like travelling on a bank holiday because transport is crowded. Today there were heavy traffic jams. My usual 15 minute journey took 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Wow, I would have had a headache at the end of that journey. Yes, well of course what we cook for Thanskgiving depends (slightly) on the region, but we usually go all out down here in the South. Turkey, Ham, Dressing, Ambrosia, Sweet Potato Cassreole, Green Bean Casserole, Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie.. It was nice of whomever it was to offer you a Thanksgiving Meal, I can't say that I would have refused given the opportunity.

We do not celebrate Thanksgiving in Europe, but I had a meeting in Italy and I was away all the day yesterday.

Everybody seems to think I don't realize that! It's why I asked how everyone's day will go today. As far as I am aware Canada and the US are the only ones that celebrate and for slightly different reasons.

Nice. Traveling just a few miles is better than long-hauls. I won't be traveling, except for to and fro work unfortunately. :( Happy Thanksgiving!

We don't celebrate Thanks giving, just displaying Xmas decorations and lights. But we haven't decorated anything yet.

Here in the US, most people don't start decorating for Xmas until the day after Thanksgiving.

My daughter made the turkey last night, (kept me up half the night smelling it), and she made enchiladas with them tonight. Tomorrow, she will toss in a honey ham and make green bean casserole. She already made up the pies today.I asked what to do and she said I can help prep the mash potatoes. Easy meal. It will just be five of us this year.

IT's good she's spreading it out over a few days. I have only ever cooked Turkey dinner (by myself) one time, and it didn't even involve a turkey.

Yes, I saw an image of LA traffic yesterday, though the image could have been taken from any other day. It was packed!

I feel like everyone just overlooked this line in my discussion : For those who aren't celebrating (or who already have - Canada's Thanksgiving), what have you been up to today?" I know that only America and Canada celebrate Thanksgiving.
