Okay, this may end up being long. I am going to try to keep it as short and sweet as possible. I might end up breaking it up into a three part thing actually.
Tanglewood is a massive park in a little township (actually village, but what have you) in my area. It's been an attraction for many years, since it was gifted by RJR's brother. Now RJR is another story altogether, but for the purpose of this discussion, I'll just say Tobacco. Mostly everyone should understand that equals big money.
Anyway, RJR's brother bequeathed his home estate to the citizens of the county upon his death. However, the land that would become a park was only available for white citizens. This was a very strange thing for people, as William Reynolds (RJR's Brother) was known as a very caring, compassionate man who gave charitably throughout his life.
After some legal wrangling, the park would eventually become open to all citizens of the county no matter their race. I won't go into too much detail here but it involved the stipulations of William Reynolds last will and testament and an act that had been passed forcing parks to become desegregated.
I honestly had no idea that the park had once been the home of a member of the Reynolds family. I can recall that it had been home to a wealthy family before, but not that it had been the Reynolds family.

Especially as we (as a nation) are far from equality for all.

A park called Tanglewood? So cute. Completely irrelevant, but one of my favourite books when I was a nipper was The Tanglewoods' Secret.

Yes, it's a nice park. I'm not sure how the name came about exactly. They do a drive through light show for Xmas every year. It's really very pretty, but it's also very congested traffic wise.

Sadly, there are a lot of people in this country that long to return to the days of segregation.

Yes, unfortunately we still have a huge problem with racism. It's actually very sad in a time where we are supposed to be more enlightened.
