Since today is my follow-up check-up with my cardiologist, I really conditioned myself to be out of the house this afternoon. I know too that my cardiologist has some unscheduled out-of-town seminars that we, his patients, are not informed. I am leaving at 4 PM. Before I go, I always call the doctor’s clinic to ask if he will be around. His phone kept on ringing so I have the hunch that his clinic time today will not push through. My sister told me she will call the hospital. “I already did, Manang, and nobody is answering the phone; the secretary may not be there”. I therefore called the information of the hospital, asked the lady security guard, and was replied with a “Ma’am, the doctor cancelled his clinic hours today. He went to the capital city and will resume seeing his patients on Sunday”. My sister said I should not go now, but I told her today is the schedule for my laboratory examination. I can just message him through text about the result. I feel a bit disappointed but health practitioners like my cardiologist who is a specialist, have some activities that may did not coincide with my consultation day, and I respect him for that. Do you feel disappointed when your doctor is absent when it is your consultation day?

Yesterday I had an appointment with my doctor and he told me he is unavailable. Rescheduled for tommorow, I have to show him the results for my pneumonia check. I also have to check my heart, a simple EKG, but he couldn't perform it last month. Yup, there is disappointment .

true, but maybe there is another valid reason why he was unavailable for your check-up date.

I'd feel disappointed as well if the doctor didn't show up.

the doctor has some seminars to attend to and my appointment for check-up, supposed to be yesterday, was made last October so maybe this seminar is scheduled later than my check-up last October.

It never happened to me either, I would consider this extremely rude.

This is the text message that I received from my cardiologist 's secretary. It came so late too while I was in the hospital laboratory this afternoon. It says: The doctor is out tomorrow. It will be on Sunday

@ridingbet It's pretty rude to inform at the last minute.

My doctors are always there for scheduled appointments, and I schedule appointments that suit my schedule months in advance. I already have several made for June.

my previous check-up was last October. maybe the seminar/conference was scheduled last month or early week this December that is why my schedule is altered

I am so sorry this happened. Yes I believe this only happened to me once. I hope that you may get the results soon. Is your sister also seeing this doctor?

It would be better they informed you about his change of plans. Definitely it will make us disappoint.

true, but i know how busy my cardiologist is. besides it is for his profession and it is not a family activity.

This never happened, it happened that they called, several days before to anticipate or postpone an appointment of 1 or 2 days, but they inform the patient several days in advance.

@ridingbet I understand if a doctor has an "emergency", but this message sounds weird, also the hour it was sent.
