When we arrived in Florida last Thursday, we had one piece of mail in our mailbox. It was dated October 6th and we were to reply by October 24th from our cable company down here They had a new modem to send to send to us.
We called and explained that we didn’t arrive until last week, so they shipped us a new modem which we had to setup.
Now you may not know it, but my husband and I are two techno dummies. He can set up wires and cables, and I can get into WiFi. After several calls to the company, we were able to get connected. It also didn’t help that I forgot my username and password.
Now we are up and running at supersonic speed. We really shouldn’t be allowed to have use of technology. We are both true techno morons, but here I am!

Thankfully, I have my two teenage children to handle all my technology needs for me. I don't have a clue when it comes to technology. If it's not plug-n-play, then I'm at a complete loss of how to use it/hook it up/enable it.

You are so lucky. When we received the letter and ordered it, they assured us it was easy to hook up. Both of us were on speaker phone with them for 1 1/2 hours and they couldn’t help me with my password. Once I changed it, the rest went smoothly. We are two Florida idiots!

@DianneN I simply put my fear of messing things up away. That helps a lot. Then I start pushing buttons

@wolfgirl569 I pushed buttons and got rid of my Safari browser if that’s what it’s called. Now I need to make an appointment to bring it in.

Me three on being a tecno moron. Last year the company that delivers the internet to me did something other and ever since then my perfectly good printer will not work. They tried and tried to tell me how to fix it- telling me over the phone- could not get that printer to work with my computer.

There are many times I wish I was a techno dummy!
I work with technology on a daily basis and a lot of my family and friends know that so I often get texts, emails, or phone calls with their issues. Most of the time I don't mind helping out but there are times I would have liked to crawl under a rock.
And the cable company here in Florida isn't much help with customers that aren't techno savvy. I think they have an expectation that people know things just because they want a cable/internet subscription.

@DianneN Yes, I'm in Florida, West Palm Beach to be a little more specific.
I actually grew up in Florida so I may be one of the dwindling Floridians that grew up here and still live here. It's really changed but that's a whole different post.

I'm glad they shipped to a new one and you got it working. It's to bad they didn't just someone out to set it up for you that would have been easier. I was in the middle of reading your new posts earlier and started burning the dinner so I have to come back and finish them up now.

lol, I am sure we can all relate. That was what was nice about buying my last router from Costco..I got some preliminary set up done, but needed a bit of help to get it up and running on all devices. They have a concierge service..with a direct line to the router people so I was up and running in a jiff.

I had to get a new modem/router last week. The guy set it up, but I could have done it. He at least wrote down the password for me. He set up my printer and Direct Tv which was nice. I forgot to tell him that my Kindle has wifi oo. So I had to get out that paper he gave me to set up my Kindle.
