My oldest brother asked for my jar of vaporizing ointment (Vicks) this morning , and I gave him the jar that is half-empty. Then I heard him cough and had wheezing respiration. I told him he has asthma but he said it is just due to allergy to some food he ingested last night when they had a reunion with his high school classmates.
This high noon, his wheezes became more pronounced. He had cold clammy skin and he cannot breathe normally. Blood pressure was 180/100mmHg and he had abdominal discomfort. I immediately told my sister to call his daughter so my brother will be brought to the hospital.
My son went with them because they relied on an app for directions. My son showed the fastest way to reach the hospital.
Now my brother is on nebulization of 20 minutes interval for 3 doses, and was put on oxygen therapy. They should be leaving today back to the capital city.
Now, I have to go to the hospital and show the result of my laboratory examination to my cardiologist. My brother feels better now with the nebulization and the oxygen therapy.

@LadyDuck yes he has both asthma and pneumonia, and hypertension as well. my big brother though acts like a small child. he was restless when he saw blood from the intravenous cannula. my sister visited him a while back and she said my brother kept on pinching the tube so the blood goes back to his vein. my sister also caught him regulating (fast-dripping) his intravenous fluid. the nurse should explain to him the ill effects of fluid overload.

@ridingbet Yikes! Thank heavens you were wise to get him to the hospital. I don’t know much about asthma, but I do know how awful pneumonia is. I hope he’ll be well enough to fly home on Wednesday. He must feel awful.

yes. he looked so weak and could not catch his breath. i used my stethoscope to listen to his breath sounds and the wheezes were louder. it was bilateral. he was diagnosed now with asthma and pneumonia. he will fly on Wednesday with his 2nd daughter. at least they rescheduled their flight.

@DianneN my sister just visited him and noted that my brother was restless because of backflow of blood from his intravenous fluid. the nurse was so patient in explaining to him that he should be still and nt move around.
he is diagnosed with asthma and pneumonia.

yes, our siblings have 2 nurses where they can ask something about their health conditions. we are not doctors but we can have our own nursing diagnoses.

@aureliah he posts some pictures on Facebook wherein he uses a face mask, which i suggested to him to avoid pollution from dirt, dust, smog, and smoke from vehicles.
