How close minded are you?

You don't have to believe in the same things I do. All I require is that you treat me fairly. Your skin tone doesn't make you who you are, it's your upbringing, or what your upbringing taught you, that does that.
Are you a Christian? That's great, I'm happy for you. Don't try to sell me on your beliefs and we will be the best of friends. I dont' care what your religion is.
What I do care about is whether you are as accepting as others as you expect them to be of you.
Do you think you are open minded or close minded?
Are you friends with people outside of your religious group or ethnicity?

I have a very limited life here Amber no contact much with the outside world as far as friends go. My life is different to what it used to be but thats okay.
I was not raised to look at peoples color and so on. So that is how I am.
I dont care either just be respectful.
All in all tho I can be very close minded. On the flip side open minded. I am a unique card.

I am sure we all are close minded against somethings without being aware of it.
I wrote this discussion after I had a conversation with someone earlier. He said that he would not date a woman who was not a Christian. I thought that was rather close minded. He went on to say that he "wished I was Christian", at which point I felt he was also rather pig headed.

@Courage7 I didn't bother telling him he would probably remain single with an attitude like that. Devout Christians like him.. There just aren't very many of those around anymore.

I am pretty open minded. I live my life by as long as you are happy, not hurting your self or others, and not forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do then do what ever you want. Other people's lives are not my business just like mine isn't theirs. I am happy with my life and my beliefs and I honestly don't care what anyone else religion is. I will discuss these thing with people who are open minded and have respect for others but I won't argue with anyone over their beliefs. Just let people be if we aren't harming anyone or ourselves. Yes, to your second question as well considering I am an Apathiest and my boyfriend is Jewish. Guess what we get along great as well. I celebrate Hanukkah with him and he does Christmas for me and my family. Majority of my family are Christians. My best friend is an pansexual atheist. Her and I are Platonic soulmates.

I like that. Living your life by as long as as person is happy and not hurting anyone then let them be. I'm really open minded but I've talked to a few people recently who are the opposite and it boggles my mind. I don't understand how people can still remain so close minded even today.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I don't understand it either. I don't get why people get so bothered by other people's actions when they aren't bothering anyone else. I work in hospitality right now and you wouldn't believe the amount of people I come in contact with that are complete a**es just because others think different from them. Or the amount of people who complain just to complain. Like their lives aren't happy or complete till they meddle or ruin other people's day.

I'm fine with other religions and ethnicities. One of my dearest friends is African American who converted to Judaism. I'm a Christian. I enjoy hearing about her religion. I want to know about what others believe so I can understand them better. If it's important to them, it's important to me.

We all have a rich cultural heritage, no matter our skin tone. I love learning about things I didn't know before, and that does include religion. I'm not religious at all, but I respect others religions. I feel as if learning about a person's religion is an important step to understanding them as a person as well.

There are times when that can be difficult, that's true.

I am not religious either. I've come across people recently who are both religious and very close minded. I find it sad more than anything.

How can I not have friends that do not belong to my religion that I do not practice myself.?
I d have my own beliefs and that has nothing to do with religion.

I hope that I am mostly open-minded, but fear that sometimes I am closed. I think most of us are, if we're honest. I work with students - and have friends - who are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Mormon, JWs, and atheist, amongst others.
The area of England in which I work is very multicultural. We have lots of Polish, Filipino, Latvian, Pakistani, etc. We have fewer who are of black African descent, but interestingly these students tend to be the ones who stick together more and try to integrate less, even when they're third or fourth generation and have never even visited their Afican roots. I don't know if this says more about them or about non-blacks. Unfortunately, some are also more likely to use the race card, which is ironic because that in itself is a form if racism.
Without multiculturalism where would we be? Oh, North Korea probably. :)
