Madonna had a single today December 22nd, 1984, that was featured in the1984 album of the same name, topped the music charts for six weeks and went on to sale almost two million copies within the United States.
The song has arguably become Madonna’s signature song, which helped cement her and the song as a pop culture icon. The song, naturally, received uproar by conservatives due to its title and sexual innuendo, while others praised Madonna for her independent and sexually-opened persona.
Are you a Madonna fan? I am not so much a fan, but it was a historical day for her song nevertheless. Here is link to her video from 1984.

OMG Carol, I don't think there is another person more excited than me at seeing your post! I love love love Madonna. I admire her so much, because she has spoken out about gay rights, women's freedom, and independence in all matters. Besides her music is awesome! I am impressed that not a majority of people like her music in the States, while she is considered one of the best pop music singer by other countries. I didn't remember that Like A Virgin was released on this day in 1984. Thanks for sharing this exciting (at least for me) post.

@CarolDM I am so happy this post made my day. Madonna is my favourite pop music, she's done lots of things! She is a singer, dancer, movie producer, songwriter, actress ans the list goes on. In fact I have 4 CD of hers. Thank you I might sound like I am overreacting but I am crazy about Madonna.
