What the heck is a Scripture Cake? A Scripture cake, also known as Bible cake or Old Testament cake, has been around for many years. It is basically a cake whose ingredients are written using scriptures from the bible. So, needless to day you need to know the scriptures from the bible. Either that or you will be spending a tremendous amount of time looking up scriptures and interpreting them to fit the ingredients of a fruit/spice cake. It was very popular in the 1830's to the 1850's with ladies and young girls alike. For young girls it was used to teach them how to learn to cook and their bible verses at the same time. For the ladies of the house it was an opportunity to show off their cooking prowess and their knowledge of the bible. You can find many recipes for this special cake online simply by goggling "Scripture Cake". I think it is a fun activity for young and old alike. It is kind of like solving a puzzle. If you like fruit cake you will love this cake. It is rich, moist, and delicious.

I had a look at the recipe and it is very similar to the German Christmas Stollen cake.

I helped my friend make one many years ago. It's delicious. There's also Ezekiel bread. Also very good.

@HazySue You can also buy it in the freezer section of some grocery stores. Not all carry it. It's better to make it.

I guess its adapted from Ezekiel bread made from ingredients found in Ezekiel 4:9. its a nutty kind of dough with a slightly sticky texture..

It actually has a good flavor. Plus if you are trying to teach scriptures to someone it is a fun way to learn.

Certainly need the word. Scripture is the truth. There's so many scriptures which help when there are troubles. Haven't had a scripture cake though.
