Any ideas on how to go about Vlogging?

I had my blog, which I tried to monetize by Chitika and Infolinks. I really couldn't earn much, neither attract much traffic. So I discontinued. What about Vlogging? Any ideas about how to go about Vlogging and ways of monetizing it?

Vlogging on youtube and live.fm can be good but it's not easy to get followers.
