Beetroots contain organic nitrates which help relax your blood vessels, thus helping in reducing blood presure. Regular consumption of beetroot juice may also help people suffering from peripheral vascular disease which causes stiffening of the arteries that carry blood to the legs, arms, stomach, or kidneys. But those suffering from diabetes should ensure caution as beetroot contains high sugar content.

@much2say If your dad is not suffering from diabetes, having two glasses of beetroot juice a day will be very beneficial. You could also add a clove or two of garlic while making the juice.

@much2say Thats why adding garlic pearls while making the beetroot juice may help your father keep cholesterol in check. He can even add flaxseeds to his juice. They also help in lowering cholesterol naturally.

@amirev777 It seems his blood sugar is ok . . . I will definitely bring this up to him! But he does have high cholesterol and recent high blood pressure (which he never had before).
