Do you like holding babies?

As an aging macho man, I like manly things like watching baseball, playing softball, drinking beer, watching Quentin Tarantino movies, and chopping wood.
But I also admit that I have a weakness for holding babies. Babies (once they reach eight months or so) are devoted, squishy, love leaning, have senses of humor, and are starting to try to form words.
Do you like holding babies as much as I do? I've had a few babies (not my own) take their first steps toward my arms. It was a boost to my masculine ego.
When I carry a 1-year-old around, I feel like part of a two-headed learning machine. This is an old picture of my buddy Jesse, who had known me since just after he was born.
When we cruised around labeling things (imagine him trying to say "tree") I felt one with the universe.

I love to hold babies and I am happy that they too show affinity towards me. I am good with babies and young children.

@arunima25 Are you kidding. I don't touch newborns. I am so scared of their neck. I tell their mothers place them on my lap, and play with them and when they sleep, I call their mothers to lift them. I am terrified of newborns.

I don't know how much you hold the babies, but I am sure babies have affinity for me. The moment I talk with them and cajole them they are ready to come to me. People feel surprised how the babies are attracted towards me with such a big grown up beard. I think babies can read your eyes and the love and affection they see in them. Most of the dogs also have this specialty! I love to hold the babies pass tme with them!

Yep, I like interacting with them even when I don't get to hold them. A lot of people don't know you can have a "conversation" with a baby before they can speak. It's all about eye-contact, imitating what they do, and ding funny things with your mouth that they can imitate. And there's always peek-a-boo. Heh.

To be frank, I am scared to hold babies because they are so delicate. I fear I might hurt them.

Something I've learned over the years is just how durable babies are, especially after 1-year or so. Toddlers will cry when they fall, because they need a grown-up to pronounce their small owie "OK." But if the fall and don't see a grown-up around, they'll sometimes just carry on.

No. Like you, I enjoy the company of young children and love helping them to discover things, but babies don't do anything for me and I can't understand why people think I would want to hold their baby! I mean I'm very happy to help a friend by holding their baby if they need their hands free for something, for example, but I'm not one of those people who goes all dewey-eyed and queues up to have a cuddle with a newborn.

Heh. When I first started working with young kids, my favorite set was the 5- to 6-year-olds because I could make math fun for them and teach them to read. But the older I've gotten, the more I've been able to tolerate, and eventually enjoy, younger and younger kids.

My children were babies years ago and I loved holding them when they were babies. I like to hold other people's babies when I get the chance. We visited Mumbai and an Indian couple wished me to hold their baby for a photo. It was a lovely little Indian baby which I found to be adorable.

Have you ever been slapped straight on face and eyes instead of on side cheek, just because you are a dunce and cannot understand those instructions ..and then consoled with a nice lick? They can pull hair, by god, they do, do they think hair is rope or something..honestly the soft cuddly creatures are the best soft toys...because of their unpredictable movements, but ..they grow up. And then it is not nice.

My heart softens, whenever I see a baby's precious little face! At the grocery store, being pushed down the sidewalk in a stroller, my own adorable grand-kids, they are all pretty wonderful:) Here's Jude and Isabella, a year ago. You are in your height of glory, holding that little fella!
