"Do YOU Practice NETIQUETTE?"

Some netizens are not practicing the online etiquette - often called 'netiquette.' It is easy to incorporate the dos and don'ts in communicating with others. The most common thing people do is using all capital letters in writing an e-mail, chatting on social media, etc. If we keep on doing this, it will definitely lead to 'flame war.' Too many people do not even practice "etiquette" in the real world, how do you expect they are more respectful online?

If they can't do this in the real world, then it is impossible for them to practice on joining a particular virtual community.

I do not like the use of short forms in emails. That is only for sms and not emails.

I agree. It is not ideal to do this. It will greatly affect the flow of thoughts on something.

I think it is still your right to do that. Stressing words can be done by capital letters.

@id_peace I do agree on that. I also feel annoyed when someone is using inappropriate usage of an exclamation point.

I heard that some people with eyes problems, can't read really unless it is in capitals. I was a penpal to a senior in her 80s, and I had no choice but to read her emails like that. I later suggested to her if I could just typed in bold, and using a big font, she was OK with it but she constantly typed capital letters to me.

I think it is fine if we are aware of a person's current situation and were informed about this concern.

I did not have this practise of using all capital words when initiating and responding to a post. I believe netiquette will include the attitude when responding to a comment. Although it is a written words but when you other read about the post you will feel it sound sarcastic. I do not like that either. I hope I do not get offended to you so far. If I did it, please DM me. I am sorry about that.

It is a gift that we can perceive the real persona of an individual through his or her writings. If we do have this gift, we can able to check if this person is genuine or not.

I really don't care at all if people write in all capitals but it is considered yelling.

I agree. The sender implies yelling with all the capital letters. At some point, it can still be misinterpreted by the reader.

I always practice netiquette! Let them be like trolls, or people who love to bash, but it is best to stick to what is good and acceptable to all.

Indeed, my friend. The best way to handle these people is to ignore. However, if they are so provocative they will regret it.

@Shavkat Wow that is something. I have a friend on facebook that has a hard time reading things so she writes in capitol letters and out of respect I answer her back with capitol letters. I would say the netiquette would be for people to respect each other.

I am also aware that writing in all caps is similar to SHOUTING of being angry. So I a consciously choose when and when not to use it. Also it can be used to emphasize something.

You had explained it well. Regardless, we still need to be responsible if using all capital letters or not.
