cucumber WITH vinegar

Yesterday there were no vegetables in the store near us. "We have no vegetable dish," my sister said. I asked her if we have cucumber, and she said yes. "Maybe you can make cucumber salad, Manang. That will be our vegetable viand".
I posted this picture on Facebook when there was a post regarding cucumber in vinegar, and my colleague (a former student) said she salivate with the post's picture and mine.
This salad is an appetiser or "abre gana"; the sourness of the salad makes my mouth water. Even this night, I took some. I gulped water after because it might increase the acidity of my stomach.
How do you take your cucumber?

the cucumber salad we had was sliced whole and not half like your cucumber as shown in the picture.

it is so simple to do this, we do not even need cooking instructions. just slice the cucumber in round shapes and add some vinegar, salt, a little of sugar, ground black pepper, and it is according to your taste on how you want it.

what do you mean? you added lemon with cucumber mixed with vinegar? i could not imagine its taste.
we squeeze lemon if we eat stir-fried noodles, but not with cucumber.

Our family do serve this pot of dish occasionally but we do not pour so much of vinegar, just slightly cover the cucumber.
It will taste better when the dish is cold (keep in the fridge for a while). The crunchy and sour taste increase my appetite to eat more food.

I have done Cucumbers in Vinegar many times, and even was thinking about that the other day. We used to even add a little bit of sugar with it to give it some flavor. Just never overdo it and eat too many close together.

When I was growing up, we always had a bowl of cucumbers floating in vinegar... many a sandwich made from them too! Gee, that takes me back!!

cucumber in a burger sandwich is also great because the taste of the burger is highlighted with the sourness of the cucumber.
this cucumber with vinegar salad is what we always do when we have no vegetable dish on our table.

when with mayo and ketchup, the cucumber taste sweet already. i prefer the one we eat, that one in the picture, hija.
i love sour food and i even like adding vinegar on corn grains like 'karoke'.

really? you add chili? we add some ground black pepper or the paminta but not the chili pepper, the red ones; it will surely taste so spicy.

I prefer taking cucumber as is or with some dip. If I take it with vinegar I make sure it's not marinated because it's no longer crunchy and juicy.

I think I may have made cucumber with vinegar before but could not find something. I have made a different salad with cucumber in it and also put it on something I toasted.

yes, salads i think i have tasted that kind of salad, but if with onions or tomatoes with cucumber and vinegar, i think these are already cut in cubes
