Well Hello, there

Bob was finally released from the hospital around two this afternoon. We are home now. He is resting. I am making dinner.
His weight had gone back down again, and so did his hemoglobin. Hopefully we are on our way back up, though.
Tomorrow I begin making calls to coordinate some other doctor's appointments.
Wednesday he will see the hematologist.
His urologist also said to see the VA hospital provider.
I am going to work hard to keep him well fed.
We have notified everyone who is friend or family that he is back home now.
Whew. It will be good to sleep in our own bed, and all that sort of thing.
I will try to catch up on my discussions.
~~~~~About Webeishere~~~~ he had a PET scan to determine where else he has cancer. He is at home as of today as well. I will let you know more when I catch back up.
Thanks for being here.
A hematologist is to do with blood?
I am glad your Bob is back home and I am sure he is as well. Did the doctors suggest putting him on those protein drinks?
Also, I am glad that Webeishere is also back home.
How's your father?
My dad is home today as well. Thanks for asking. As my brother explains it, it is a matter of more medication than his body can handle. He will consult the kidney doctor as this episode had mostly to do with how his kidneys are processing the medicines to handle his blood pressure and diabetes. The ensure drinks were given if the meals were too low calorie. No one suggested it continue at home, but we will make our own as I already have protein powder and good homemade yogurt and other things. I will make sure he has them in between meals. Yes, the hematologist is a doctor that specializes in blood disorders. Often they are also oncologists, or cancer doctors. Bob has had some issues with being anemic even as a child and many severe nosebleeds growing up, and our current primary care says it is about time someone checked for a clotting disorder.
I am going to work backwards in commenting back to you.
Wow, yes quite a few years have gone by and no one has thought to check for a clotting disorder? Sure, it might not have been thought of in his childhood, but plenty other years have gone by with adnvacements in medicine.
With your father, will he be required to take his medicine in smaller doses but more frequently? Or are there other options?
@ScribbledAdNauseum As for my dad, my brother will ask the kidney doctor what is best. His heart doctor had added another diuretic last week, which then made the levels of his diabetic meds too high. I think they were increased before Christmas. My brother has had to learn a lot, both for himself and for dad. For instance, timing of medications for the best outcomes. I hope the kidney doctor can help dad.
@Happy2BeMe After a certain point, being home is when you really begin to heal. I know you have had your share of medical issues in the last year.
I am so glad you and Bob are home. I got Tony`s weight up by feeding him high fat , rich foods, that way the small amounts they will eat is full of calories.
It was so funny. They fed him huge plates of food and he would eat every bit of it, except maybe the tea or coffee. At home he would have said it was too much. The only meal they served bread with was breakfast and everything had lots of protein as well as fruits and veggies. He would have liked butter on the veggies. Real mashed potatoes with gravy and rice pilaf once. I was not there the night he had a burger and fries. I think he ate so he could convince them to let him out.
No, I had to give up my job, so I do not work, but it is still hard. I had to take care of my first husband when he became ill. I need to work, but it is not possible to do that and go to all the appointments. It is wonderful to have so many people who will intercede with prayer. Thank you.
He and Princess are very content. It is good he can move around. He had a "tree" with fluids on it and all kinds of tubes and could not move around much. This is freedom in a way.
It was making decent improvements in hospital. Part of the issue is that he has lost a lot of muscle. I am trying to stuff him full. Just took him cocoa, made with whole milk.
