As long as I'm still reviewing mode - I discovered a fascinating series called simply "V".
It's an older series and with only 2 seasons being filmed in 2009 and 2011 it's fairly easy and quick to bingewatch it.
One normal day - alien ships appear hovering ominously above many of the major cities of the world. As people panic, the underside of the ship lights up in a giant video display. A beautiful lady who, we learn, is the commander of the alien fleet comes on screen to send greetings and assure people that the Visitors (as they call themselves) are only here to share their advances with us. "In peace, always" beautiful Anna assures us. Interestingly enough - she speaks English, and, yes - looks like us. Predictably - there are factions of humans who love the visitors and the advances they offer (enter a teenager named Tyler) - and there are people who are suspicious the visitors are up to no good (enter Tyler's mom, an FBI agent).

This isn't the first time the visitors have come. In fact they have been among people so long that there is a faction of them rebelling against their own kind - on earth. And while most humans don't know it - the visitors in their natural state are emotionless, lizard like creatures. It is only from wearing the human "skin" that some of them develop human emotions.
There are a lot of twists and turns... and it is a captivating watch, even though it's older the effects aren't too cheesy. I give it a 5 out of 5 , it is just a pity that there were only 2 seasons.

@DianneN No probs - we can't all like the same thing - it would get boring. And besides when the aliens finally do take over, I'll help catch you up. Jk

I really liked it a lot, though my tastes in movies can be a little eccentric. It would be so nice if we could watch some movies together :-)

Ah yes! Not like a person would have expected it to end. I agree, it would have been perfectly fine to have more seasons
