How do you correctly answer these interview questions?

Some of the questions that people can get asked at interviews are:
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Where do you see yourself in five years?
How the heck do you answer these questions so they don't result in you bombing the interview?
I've always had trouble figuring out how to answer them correctly. Or is there no such thing a right answer for this one?

There is no standard answer for these questions. One company searches for a dedicated worker and another one searches for someone with a vision. But I think I would answer like this:
1. Pros: I am a hard worker, great team player and always looking for solutions when there are problems. Cons: not enough experience in this field, but I think I would gain it fast working for your company.
2. 5 years from now I'll be the leader of a small, successful team in your company

#1 sounds like a great answer. #2 do you have to say that in five years' time you see yourself working in the same co.? What if you don't?

@lovebuglena the point is you want to work for that company when you answer the question. You don't know what you'll find there if they hire you, but you hope it's the job you wanted and in 5 years you'll go up the hierarchy.

Yes there is. Just tell them what your weakness would be at their co. Etc. As for five years would you still be working there? Ask all of this before you go. Reverse with a friend.

I don't remember ever being asked those questions when I went for a job.

@lovebuglena So, what do you think is the reason for asking "Where do you see yourself in five years?"
Might they be wanting to see if you are a person with goals or if you have some direction in life?

I was asked either one of these or both in a single interview at some jobs I interviewed for.

@1hopefulman Five years is a long time. How am I supposed to know where I see myself in five years?

Yes those questions are frequent in job interviews. But the important thing is how you confidently answer those things, and connect your answers how you can help the company.

The questions seem simple yet they are not easy to answer. Answer it the wrong way and you can lose the shot at getting hired.

You are lucky then. Interviews are nerve-wracking. For me anyway.

I guess what the interviewers want to gauge is whether you are low in confidence, confident or over-confident
