Movie turns into challenge

A movie came out not that long ago called birdbox. It is a movie about people that have to live blindfolded so they won't look directly at some creatures that makes them do some awful things to themselves. Now I recently heard on the news in utah in the united states, a local girl covered her eyes while driving and drove into oncoming traffic. Why would anyone want to do this? I just hope future teens who want to take the challenge use that as an example so no one gets seriously injured.
