Peanut Butter Banana Fudge Bars

No photo this time, you'll just have to take my word for it. I woke up this morning and opened up the fridge to get myself some cold water. On the shelf above it sits the fudge I made last night, a whole row of pieces missing. I walked into the den and asked my family what they thought of it. A chorus of "Oh it was good!" and "It tasted like berries!" came back at me. I preened a bit at the first comment, but the second comment was peculiar to me. "You tasted Banana, not berry." I said to the person lying on the couch, a cellphone in their hands. I grabbed myself a piece this morning, ya know, just to make sure I didn't accidentally sneak berries in the mixture instead of bananas. It was delicious! Anyone want a piece? Oh, the crust was made out of vanilla wafers and graham crackers.

heh. Another good emoticon would be a coffee cup! It was so delicious. I had to stop myself from getting another.

@Courage7 Yes, but I don't partake in it too much. I've read some things that say it's not the healthiest for women. Maybe that's poppycock but I still dont' drink much of it. Thought about getting some to make some coffee cakes or something though, I can't say no to those.

We need to perfect a way to send food through private messages.

I agree. So many foods sound delicious, if only we could share them.

[Raising my hand for a piece][Please] I don't think I've ever had fudge with bananas! Is that a ScribbledAdNauseum creation? A missing row is a good indicator that it was delish !

I am thinking they each took a really large piece. I had to sneak and get myself a small piece just now. It tastes like bananas and chocolate and vanilla wafers. Yes, it's my own creation. I am thinking I might puree some strawberries and bananas next time. Oh and tasted like peanut butter too, more peanut butter than chocolate but that is exactly how I wanted it.

I think it's probably the medication he takes that alters his taste buds. I asked my nephew what he thought it tasted like as well. He said he didn't know but it was good. He had never had a banana until then.

Apparently a banana is a berry! Sounds like a great recipe.

I just made more yesterday, added more banana this time. I want to use the food processor with some strawberries and throw those in one day. I will probably use white chocolate with those.

@paigea For the most part, yes. I saw a recipe a few weeks ago and followed it's guidelines but not every measurement.

It was really yummy. I put more peanut butter in this batch and so it tastes more like peanut butter and banana. I also used some vanilla extract. No added sugar at all.

I never heard of fudge containing bananas either, but then again I would expect that it would contribute a creaminess to the texture!! And then there is the crust... that takes fudge to a whole new level!!

I wanted to make the fudge seem a bit healthier than it actually is. Hence the bananas. It actually makes the fudge that much more delicious, atleast I think so. This will be the last time I make fudge for awhile. I still have some chocolates but I am thinking I might melt those for hot chocoalte.
