How to become popular at myLot

A user lamented that they were not popular here and those that are popular always get to the top rated with their discussions. Here at myLot popularity is judged by how much you interact with each other. The more you interact more will come to your posts. Visit the profiles of those who you think are popular and see their activity They do not rest on their laurels but work very hard. Also their responses are not just 'thank you, great and such one word responses. The responses should be meaningful I am not popular because I do not interact much

Users should be happy here and not feel they are not being acknowledged.

@allknowing I like to whine and moan once in awhile. As Jesse Winchester sings, it's "dangerous fun."

You are popular to me! Interaction is key, and one word comments won’t get the newbies anywhere.

Here popularity gets a different meaning in that there are many coming to one's posts and that is not the case with me. It happens rarely And I blame myself for it. I give up after a while responding to discussions here

I don't care about being popular. I just want to enjoy the conservations with a lot of different people. But if people want to be popular it is important to interact a lot. That is the way you get to know more people. I have seen people who only get one of two responses when they start discussions. I hardly ever see them participate in other people's discussions, and there is a connection between those things.

@allknowing Being popular means more earnings and that is a good thing of course. I don't want it though. I already have a lot of conversations going on and it is hard to keep up with the notifications. I have so many that I didn't answer yet, and if I was popular I would get even more

@Porcospino I marvel at those who attend to every single notification of theirs which run into hundreds sometimes. I am ok with notifications but should go for responding to more discussions.

It takes time to interact and some who complain that "they are not popular" very little do to obtain popularity. Usually complaining brings nowhere, working a lot helps.

@TheHorse I do not understand why users sometimes do not read the discussions but just go past them posting a 'great' or a 'thank you' - annoying.

You are right. Some of the most popular writers here do not post every day, but they are diligent and thoughtful about responding to others' posts. When they DO post, they are likely to get 80 comments, and they deserve it.

It is just a way of putting it The fact of the matter is when discussions get a lot of attention and many reach there that is when one could be said to be popular.

Seniority can make one popular - meaning those that have been around here for a very long time will probably get a lot more interaction that those that have been here only a short time or just joined. But interacting a lot won't necessarily make you popular either. It depends on what discussions you write and what you write in the responses/comments.

Interacting with several would mean them getting back and that is how a discussion gets to the top A newbie surely will take time but a senior who does not interact their discussions will not get there.
