Is the first impression always the one that stays forever?

The first impression says it all. - people say.
Do things really work so mechanically? You see a person for the first time, form an impression about he/she and no matter what happens, will you always remember their first version?
I think totally different from this, because today I have friends who initially were completely different from my eyes / my impressions. I needed time to get to know them better and undo the previous impressions (especially the first one).

I do not agree on the whole that a first impression of a person sticks with you forever. I have met people and may have not liked them on the first meeting but grew to like them. I have also met those that I liked and later did not like.

I am confused by your answer so am asking do you agree with what I said and feel that first impressions stick with someone?

My first impression of the person that became my best friend that I have ever had in my life was absolutely horrible . I couldn't stand her at first. After we ended up working the night shift together (nursing home) we talked A LOT that night and I told her how I felt and why .After that we started to be friends . So I think first impressions aren't always right ..Some times they can be misunderstandings .

You are right and no it's not first impression, that's like judging a book by it's cover. You have to give people a chance.

It seems like when my house is in tip top shape, nobody is here to notice it. Then, the one time it is a mess, somebody shows up! I cannot win!

Perhaps sometimes true but not a golden rule to live by.
