80% Contained (Art quilt challenge)

A Studio Art Quilt Association (Oregon Chapter) challenge for a show called "On the Edge" was issued a while back. With the terrible fires and smoke that west coast states have endured this year, Anne was inspired. Further inspiration came from photos of two dogs who survived the devastating Paradise fire which destroyed most of that California town. The result of her efforts are pretty amazing and she has submitted the required photos to be juried by some chosen artist. Looking at her quilt, I can almost smell the smoke. Her depiction of burned homes, chimneys and trees is touching. I will add a close-up that she had to submit in the comment section.

No, she did not win. It is a very small town and winners were local.

@JamesHxstatic - OMG! Anne is a genius. The minute I saw the picture I knew it was a quilt about Paradise, before I even read your post. The situation in Paradise is awful, and Anne's quilt depicts it perfectly!

That is incredibly moving. I love the black and red left-hand background too. I do hope she does well. She deserves to.

as i scrolled down from the title, i thought something's wrong with the picture. and what's that pile of black things? then the girl and the dogs appeared at the bottom which made me smile. i guess it's a picnic in the park, i tell myself, but something's off. then i read the text. so sad. yes, i remember this news, but again anne makes it look like a painting. she's simply brilliant.
