So it snowed, a little

It rained and misted all day yesterday, and then the sun set and the temperatures dropped and the wind really picked up.
It is cold and breezy today, but this afternoon the sun has come out to shine brightly.
I would go out across the street to the mailbox, but I just noticed someone's idiot child come speeding around the curve. He spun out right in front of my house within steps of my mailbox. Did a 180 then swerved back off the road and had to do some maneuvering to get straight and pull out again.
That makes me cautious, thinking some fool would come along and wipe me out.

Its cold and windy here as well and snowed during the night. We were all shocked and the kids and I went out and had a little snowball fight. It reminded me of home that I have missed so much. They don't get snow here so it was nice, even though only enough to cover the ground.
Thats scary when they spin out like that, glad you decided not to walk across for it. Bet he was going too fast for the curve huh!

Exactly. The road as it comes off the highway is clear and dry then you hit the ice as you come down a little slope and around. I am glad you had a little snow.

@cintol Not yet, but it could happen. There are no curbs on these streets, until you get downtown.

@GardenGerty Have you ever had anyone come up into your yard when its icy out?
Thanks me too, it made me a little less homesick and the snowball fight was fun.

Dress warmly friend. It seems once a house or building gets cold in its frame it takes forever to warm it back up. Are you in an apartment, or a single house?

It's been raining here nearly daily. It's nice but I feel sorry for the early commuter that have to brave the icy street when it freezes over night.

Yes. I used to have to get up and drive on that stuff. Glad I do not now.

I think I would just wait for the mail. Too many idiots are out in it.

Our road is not heavily traveled, but I did wait a long time before I went out.

@GardenGerty Our mail did not even run yesterday. All she has is a mini van. So I am glad she did not try it.

In this kind of weather you have to think ahead and look ahead. I tend to drive like a little old lady.

What a fool, and so scary to think if you had gone to the mailbox.

We do not get much traffic on this road, so people tend to ignore the limits and conditions.

Princess took a little adventure out this afternoon. The birds are here, so I fed them well and put out a bucket of water. I will bring it back in when it freezes. Twenty eight is about what we had yesterday.

Oh, I will. I was glad he and his passenger stayed upright and got back on the road.

People should be very cautious so they don't hurt others.

@Gardengerty Make sure you stay upright! We went for a walk along the sea front today and it was bitterly cold but we thoroughly enjoyed it. No snow though.

If I go out I may take the cane my husband used after his stroke.

Hopefully that spinout, presumably on road ice, taught him a lesson that will last for a lifetime. I remember the panic I felt when I first experienced losing control on an icy road, and it's made me cautious in bad conditions ever since.

I have had my share of near misses on ice but that was even at reduced speed.

Foolish people not being cautious in bad weather.

And it is not always kids. I am amazed to read the local police logs and see how many are arrested for going ninety miles an hour or so.
