The most expensive thing you ever lost FOREVER

I remember, when we had finished our Masters and I was leaving the hostel, most of my friends were crying. Everyone reading this must be familiar with this situation
.
I had taken out all my luggage, except one bag which had some of my favorite clothes. I came to my room to take it, when suddenly a friend came to see me for the last time.
She was at the room's door.
We got very emotional. We hugged each other and I took my handbag and left, closing the door from behind. The bag was right behind me on the bed and I closed the door, without turning back.
While I reached the station and was counting my luggage, I realized but it was too late. I called my friends but my hostel was very far from the railway station. Though, they had informed the maid, the maid said, she didn't find any bag. Well, I don't know who was lying or who took the bag. The maid or some one else.
Anyways, the clothes were worth $100 approximately and some of them were my favorites.
Do you have a similar story?

@Sheali I'm sorry you lost all of that! I have only ever lost a phone but technically it wasn't me who lost it. I had given it to my boyfriend at the time, and when we got back to my house he didn't have it. So it must have dropped on the ground somewhere while we were out.

I lost $100 bill one time and it was awful. I needed the money for a bill and when I reached in my pocket it was gone. Good for the person who found it but not so good for me at the time.

@Sheali That is true. I lost a few things that weren't worth a lot but had a lot of sentimental value.
