Where has that mirror gone?

I might have written before about the little blue wren that fights his reflection in the office window where I sit. He has also taken to doing the same in the rearview mirrors of my car. That would be okay but he does his business all over the windowsill and down the side of the car.
So now I’ve put cloth over the mirrors so he can’t see himself. You can see the leaves that blew in to the carport during yesterday’s strong winds. I’ve swept them up now and have filled all my leaf containers. If I leave them full, I won’t be able to sweep up any more, will I? Sounds like a plan to me.

He must think it is another bird he has to dominate. I have a bird feeder in the front,,,that has a kind of a shiny surface. One bird used to come and regularly admire either himself or the bird in the reflection. It was rather comical.

I think that it is birds' natural instinct, like the peacock spreading its tail at the sight of people in colourful dresses, the little blue wren probably thought of the bird in the mirror as its rival in love, never knew it was itself.

That blue wren of yours made me think of the amusing saying that I have heard when wishing a Happy Birthday to people - may the bluebird of happiness crap on your birthday cake

Sounds like a good plan to me. Good idea to cover your mirrors.

Silly bird. Preiti is not silly She did that when she was a pup but soon realised it is only an image. Clever Preiti. She did the same when she heard some barking from the tv. She ignores it now.

It's not really uncommon. They see their reflection and think it is a rival.

The little blue wren must feel confused. The cat try to fight with his reflection in the doors of my kitchen cabinets, silly kitty.
