Planting Bamboos

I saw on the net about a country who aimed to reduce air pollution by planting bamboos. The people there had planted so many bamboos in vacant lands, and now they are already reaping the fruits of their labor. They can use the bamboo for livelihood, at the same time reducing air pollution and land erosion. It is a good project because bamboos easily regrow new shoots even if the matured ones are harvested, unlike the usual trees that do not regrow unless you plant another seedling to replace the harvested tree. It also needs less care and maintenance.

That is a great idea. Here, once you plant bamboos you never get rid of them but on wasteland that wouldn't matter.

@acelawrites Where there is high rainfall bamboos grow exceptionally strong and thick. They are not quite so useful in Australia.

@JudyEv maybe so, because of the lack of rainfall in your country.

Bamboos can adapt so well in wastelands. It's nice to plant it there.

Why do they burn it? They should use the bamboos for handicrafts or making furniture.

It is nice if every country would do the same, or plant whatever tree can adopt to their climate and soil type.

I had planted bamboo in my garden, but I have asked the gardener to put the liner because bamboo is an invasive species.

@acelawrites Even if we contained it, some sprouts arrive to "run" out of the container. I cut them immediately, once you cut it it stops growing.

Yes it is invasive because it belongs to the grass family.

Wow, that is so nice know. it helps pollution! in our backyard, the dileneation of our lot from the next's are lots of big bamboos. I am planning to have them removed and use the bamboos for whatever we will be doing because bamboos are the hiding place of snakes. I am so afraid of snakes, that is why.
