This isn't exactly Forensic Fridays material, but it's still about a murder and so I'm going to write about it here.
Julia Mangan was murdered with a razor blade in Hyde Park in October of 1928. Her murderer was a man named Robert Williams, a Welsh carpeneter who tried to take his own life after murdering Julia Mangan, an Irish housemaid.
He claims that he became temporarily insane after watching London After Midnight which is a well sought after, but lost film. Julia Mangan and Robert Williams had been acquainted, and apparently he had told her he wanted to marry her before ultimately killing her.
There is more to be read at the link I am going provide. I am having trouble loading it and so I haven't added every detail here.

As Am I. Espcially ones committed when forensics was in it's infancy.

He was probably scizophrenic or schizo effective. This was the 1920's, I'm sure he wouldn't have had access to doctoring that would have identifed or known what to do with him.
He did seem to exhibit remorse though, since he apparently tried to kill himself. I got this of of two different websites. The website I linked here was picture heavy and was not loading well for me.

I think he murdered her after she rebuffed him. Though I do wonder if he had all of his marbles.

@Courage7 It is a sad case, irregardless. She was so far away from home, and her employment? I think she was most likely just trying to survive. She may have had family that were killed or atleast away at war as well.

To think, what if the science of forensics was never discovered?
