Day 16 Acts 9:32 Acts 9:32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda. 33 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy. 34 And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ makes thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately. 35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord. 36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and alms deeds which she did. 37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. 38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive. 42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord. 43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner. One thing we know about life, is everyone dies. When death comes to our loved ones we mourn and long for them to be with us. Peter traveled through Judea in the cities of Lydda where he healed a man with palsy and then went on to Joppa, a coastal city on the Mediterranean Sea. He was led into the chamber of a woman, loved by everyone, who recently died, and Peter prayed and called life into her in the name of Jesus. As Christians, we read these accounts and think how wonderful for the apostles to heal the sick, cast out demons, and raise the dead to life in Jesus’ name. We forgot a basic truth. We can too. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (KJV) John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. Jesus said all those who believe in Him would do the same works He did. Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, and raised the dead. Do you believe in Jesus? Have you accepted Him as Savior and Lord? The same works He did, you can do also. God hasn’t changed. God’s Word has never been altered. Therefore, you and I have the same power Jesus had, yet we don’t use the power He gave us. We’ve been told the age of miracles is over. God’s Word hasn’t changed. God hasn’t changed. Not one Word from God’s Word has been repealed. Why then can’t we do the same works Jesus did, or the apostles after Jesus ascended into heaven? We need to take all the promises God gave us, and act on them. They are there not for us to memorize and walk away from as good verses. They are there for us to take hold of and utilize in our daily walk. You have the same power Jesus had. I have the same power Jesus had. Christians everywhere have the same power Jesus had. It’s time to use it and not stand by and watch our loved one’s wither away when it isn’t time for them to enter eternity. Do your loved ones know Jesus as Savior and Lord? If not, you need to stand on God’s promises and pray for their salvation before they enter eternity. No one needs to die without Jesus Christ. Peter raised Dorcas to life because she was a good person and her friends, disciples who knew Jesus, didn’t want her to leave this life before her work was finished. If Dorcas didn’t know Jesus before she died, she knew Him after Peter raised her to life. It’s time to raise up dead bones, breathe life into them, and live in the promises God gave us in His Word. Then the age of miracles will be seen in the earth again. God hasn’t changed. We have. Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word live in me as a powerful witness for You. Let me stand on Your promises, acting on them, as Your power flows through me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 27 January 2019 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

Last Monday of the Year is declared as National Bible Day in our country. The law was just signed by the President and declaring the day as special working day. Our country is predominantly a Christian country.
