As a child, I always dreamed of fairytale romance, but life is a little more jagged than glass slippers and princes on white horses. I was just now listening to the song, "Something Like This" and Iooking at the album cover. A little boy dressed up in a makeshift superhero costume. "No superhero gifts, no fairytale bliss, just someone I can turn to, someone I can kiss." I'm missing him especially much, but I would like to think of myself as more than that. There are lots of older folks here in the shelter, many of them whose wives have passed away, and my bold soul perhaps fills a void for them. I had a guy tell me today I'm his favorite girl here. And it was not meant in any sort of romantic way at all. For some such as myself who was the outcast in school, it seems my time has come. And the table in the dayroom that I call my office has become the cool kid's table. I am taken back to a day long ago sitting at the kitchen table in my grandparent's home, and I can hear my grandfather telling me: "Be patient, God has something much bigger than popularity for you, child. For you are a gifted soul, the kind of which only few can know. And someday you'll meet a man strong enough to handle that soul." True love is something many have given up on these days. Be assured my friends, it does exist. Happy hunting.

It sure does. I found mine. It was a long time coming but he was well worth all the I went through to finally get to him.
