Crockpot Cake Anyone?

Maybe you know how to do this... I read recipe after recipe on how to bake a cake in a crockpot. Such recipes are often called "dump cakes". The instructions say to dump the pie filling in first, then throw in the cake mix. Then, the instructions say to wait 2 to 3 hours for the cake to be baked. My dump cakes always end up being raw and gooey. What am I doing wrong? Also, when I throw the cake mix in, does it still need the egg and oil? Simply just the cake mix without? I am wanting a cake tonight. Thank you! I look forward to your replies!

I received this recipe by Stephanie after asking her. Maybe the butter does the trick?
