For the last couple of days (I've been told it's been longer, but I hadn't seen it) the kids have been fascinated by a gopher living in the school garden. The little dude pokes his head barely out of his hole, the kids all go to look, and after sticking its head out a few more times, he goes back under the ground. Thankfully, there's nothing growing in the garden right now, save some stray radishes. He's a cute little critter, but when the kids go over to look at him, of course a teacher has to be there to be sure no one tries to stick a finger in his hole. We tell the kids, "Don't do that, he might think your finger is food..."
