It is the Year of the Youth. The youth are those 15 years to thirty. And for those who have sensed a calling but doubting, this Sunday's liturgical readings will help you in heeding the call.
The first reading is from Isaiah, the prophet who felt not worthy but when his shortcomings were purged, he responded with "Here I am, Lord."
The second reading is about Paul, the persecutor of Christians. He was the least likely to become an apostle. But when he was called, he became the staunchest salesman of the faith, navigated from Rome to Corinth, Galatia, etcetera, bringing the story of the Christ whom he persecuted, and built the Church.
And the Gospel, of course, is about that fisher folk with such a temper, the Simon who, by some grand design, obeyed, when our Lord told him to cast his net, after many tries that yielded no catch.. The boats, of course, were filled to the brim that they nearly sank. Ha ha. And our Lord nudged him not to be afraid. His obedience paid off and he became Peter, the Rock, upon whom the Church was built. Of course, again, the Church will never sink.
Okay, young people, many of you erring in your juvenile state, these three: Isaiah, Paul, and Peter, were the imperfect personages called to serve. So, if you believe your self nor worthy of the vocation, so were these three.
Apostleship is the path not often taken, it is only for the chosen few. But great is the reward, if you are up for the challenge of you life

Yes, faith must be formidable, and animated by charity. We could increase in faith by being men and women for others, especially the less fortunate in life.
