I’m a little jealous of my older two today. They decided to buy lunch which for them is for free since there school gave them an allowance since our family is in the low income group. Over all I never worry about lunch at school. I looked to see what they where having to tell the kids this morning like normal.
I told them cinnamon buns for the breakfast lines and lunch it was mini confetti pancakes. I want pancakes for lunch too. I wish my school lunch was that good at the kids.

I would like pancakes for any meal, anytime. When I was in school, they served blobs and mystery meat. There were green, yellow, brown, and red blobs. Mystery meat was written on the menu. I shudder to think where it came from. Maybe road kill???

Ewww the pizza was one of our go tos at school and it was bad. They now have way better food options and do a good range of things that are healthy or semi healthy.

@akalinus mine choice daily. I tell them what options they have because it changes daily. They had other things today as you can see from the picture I saw the pancakes knowing they would want them because I dotn make them often at home and the ones I do are gluten free.

@ShyBear88 My kids' lunches were much better. There were pizza, subs, salad, pb&j sandwiches, and desserts. They could choose what they wanted.

That sounds like two great meals!
We had free breakfast and lunches in school too, and most weren't too bad.. but certainly nothing like pancakes for lunch! So not fair, lol

Lol,, I know I was like where was those when I was kids. They take like 30 seconds to heat up but man those I would have eaten at school. Our county his year wheat free breakfast for all kids and then we have free to reduce lunches for kids families that are in lower incomes. You have file for it to see if you get it each year. It’s nice to have when we are broke and I don’t have much food for lunch they can always get a nice lunch at school. This was one option today that I knew they would like.

@ShyBear88 Yeah, ours schools do that too, you fill out the paper at the beginning of the year. only time we paid at lunch was in high school when they had dominos pizza for lunch and you got the first slice free (if you got free lunch) then you paid $1 for each extra slice. I usually got two slices. so good back then. hate their pizza now.
I always got cereal, or French toast sticks and sausages for breakfast.

They get fruit, salad as option for the sides they have other sides they change up but fruit is a daily option. For the kids that can have milk it is a drink option so is juice, and water then that other options that coast extra. Fruit is unlimited. Yogurt is a daily stand option for any kids that don’t want a big meal some days they have smoothies as a lunch option with a bagel. I pull the menu up daily and read what they have so the kids can choice. One of the main options today was the pack of mini pancakes

@sallypup ranch is an option but the kids don’t have to use it. My daughter gets salad and eats it dry with no dressing.

@ShyBear88 That's good. In my part of the world when the school kids get raw vegetables, they also have ranch dressing to dip the vegies in. I would think the ranch dressing's lack of nutrition would cancel out the good vegies. My Mom allowed me to live on a high sugar diet when I was a kid. I am paying for it now.

It's for breakfast or mid-snack . Just wonder why they serve it for breakfast.

While it might sound good, that is incredibly unhealthy and teaches the kids unhealthy eating habits

Not really the school knows what the kids health issues are or are not. The kids get to pick and they don’t always have things like this every day. The menus changes daily so it’s not something they eat daily and it’s not that unhealthy like fast food.
