You and I, we love to write. We love to express our selves in words. In writing.
That is why we are here on mylot.
What if you are not allowed to write?
On the news the other night, a writer, or more appropriately, a journalist, by the name of Maria Ressa, was arrested. There was no probable cause really for such an arrest but she was arrested anyway. She posted a hundred thousand peso bail, the morning after she spent the night in jail.
The message was clear: any criticism of the administration will get you by hook or by crook.
Maria Ressa is UP Diliman and Ivy League. She is recipient of International Journalism Awards, including TIME Person of the Year.
Watch for your self this lady I am much in admiration of.
Rappler executive editor and CEO Maria Ressa receives the Golden Pen of Freedom Award from the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA)...

I have listened to her and she has much courage to speak up for what she believes in.
I have not heard her speak before either but comes across very clear.

Maria Ressa has a gift of seeing the big picture, a keen sense to distinguish fact from fabricated news, and a gift of gab.
My daughter, when she had the chance to speak to her in a forum said "Maria Ressa, you are so brave." Maria Ressa responded in all seriousness and sincerity, "I have no choice but to be brave."

@lovinangelsinstead21 She was arraigned, I think, the other day. The leadership of the country is losing it, yacking all sorts of filth, that ours news has become a "to switch off at once thing,"
Will tune in later for more graphic info news.

Is she free now or are they still doing what they are doing?
No one here really goes to jail now for speaking their mind they usually find something else to charge them with instead and that way it makes it look better.

The courage came hand in hand with the intelligence. Gosh, her vocabulary and enunciation are given, the thoughts and ideas, her ability to see things in perspective after a relatively cursory assessment of facts, sigh, that's an incredibly enviable brilliant mind.
The courage comes from the heart. This lady is in league with the great.

@akalinus Thank you, Jo Ann, I am just passionate when it comes to suppressing people of the inalienable rights.
