Don't kiss mistakes "Goodbye"

February 15, 2019 8:17am CST
My mom often told me that mistakes were good for me "Don't disregard your mistakes." Over the years, now that I am older and in my golden years, I always tell my kids what my mother used to tell me, as well. At the time, mistakes weren't exceptionally the things that were good for me and my family. Things I was not very proud of, and ashamed of. Or I wished I had not existed or changed my identity. I think, as I get older, I slowly begin to accept that mistakes are natural events in my existence that, sometimes put me to the lowest ebb of my life. I wished those mistakes never happened. But they did. And I'm done with guilt and blame. I'm done with mediocrity and getting-bys, what-will-be-will-be kind of thinking. I am extra careful now that before I make a move of anything. I plan my strategies. If it involves money, I save up; if something or loved ones mean "they are important to me, I try to make it work for me and for them. Mistakes will always creep at the door. But so what, I'm a patient better person now to welcome them as they happen. An then, back to strategy 1 and so forth to avoid the same mistakes again. When I sail through a day without mistakes such as: helping someone feel important and specially needed, making an effect in their lives, I just indulge myself some secret praising and a pat on my back. How about you? What's your plan today?

I still beat myself up over past mistakes but I have learnt from them so at least in that regard they weren't a total waste of time.

Thank you. Like what my mom says, 'embrace your past mistakes and kiss them', not bury them 'goodbye'. Past and present mistakes benefit us become wiser and more patient.

I think it is good to make mistakes. At least, they help us become a better person in life. Though we were all born as sinners in nature, that doesn't mean that we must remain as such for the rest of our lives. What we become in the future is from our past experiences.
