For sure, everybody knows James Bond. Yes?
Especially the British, for he is their # 1 super spy, a hero beloved.
Though, in recent years, believe me, Johnny English has become more beloved in my general acquaintance.
Well, anyway, there is no use pitting the two, because the movie genre are different, although the plot formula is the same.
Of all the attributes rendered to 007, I am most fascinated by his ability to utilize highly technological devices without going through the manual. Sigh.
That perhaps, streams from the fact that I am a techie fail. I cannot even explore an android, no matter how friendly and personal it gets to me.
Like James Bond, I don't read manuals. I do, however, express my self to my utmost ability to write. Writing, I have discovered, comes with no manual. Just stick to the truth and the right and one can never go wrong.
Suppression of freedom in writing is like suppressing 007 from sleuthing..
Just saying.

That's a good point - I don't suppose there is a scene in any of the Bond films that shows 007 reading an instruction manual!
Who was it who said that you should never trust any device that weighs less than its instruction manual? Given Bond's reliance on small but lethal objects, perhaps he was following that advice!

That is the first time I learned of that adage. Hmmm, something to ponder about.
James Bond, though fictitious, is very real to many, at least as far as super heroes are concerned, because there are spies cunning and agile who get the job done, for God and country.
I suppose these people are gifted with extreme extra-sensory perception, especially superior in spatial and natural intelligences. That is probably why they can handle devices.
Thank you.

@eileenleyva I've tracked it down. The actual quote is "Always be wary of any helpful item that weighs less than its operating manual". It is courtesy of Terry Pratchett, the author of the Discworld novels, but I don't know the context of the quote - whether it was said by one of his highly eccentric characters, for example.

@indexer Thank you for the FYI. Terry Pratchett is also new to me. Will check out the Discworld novels although I must admit I am not a fan of eccentric characters, except for Mr. Bean who I dearly love.

Instruction manuals can come in handy specially if you have no idea how something like the gas heater works in reality. Hardly James Bond stuff.
Just saying on the other hand have loved all the James Bond and Johnny English is very funny also love him.

Oh, I see. Yes, I believe it is important to check the gas heater manual. We can never be too careful when it comes to that.
In the Philippines though, when we purchase a gadget or a unit like an air-condition, or a generator, the salesmen explain every detail on how to operate the machine. Thus, we don't need to read the manual.

@lovinangelsinstead21 The Polar Vortex was punishing, I hear. My sister in California says that it is still extremely cold.
Keep safe with the heater. Gosh, I pray it does not break down.

This is a heater that is ages old you see and so its hard to know how to fix it and we have to keep an eye on it for the just in case.
