I just found out that in my country there´s a place where you can change your plastic bottles for glass bottles you can recycle.
I am so glad with the idea. I am shocked at the amount of plastic that is polluting the oceans. Some time ago I discovered that there was a 'continent' made from plastic the size of Australia.
What do you do to stop littering? Please share. This is worse than the global heating.

I hope we can do better. In this last century we have created more garbage than in many

@marguicha some places don’t allow glass bottles to be recycled as they get broken and workers get injured. Here thankfully glass can be recycled.

I'm always taking all plastic bottles and metall cans with a deposit back to the shop, and recycle all the other plastic, glass and metall. There's no recycling for food waste here, but I try not to waste food and check my fridge every now and then so I know what food I have.
I have started checking if there's any organized cleaning efforts going on in town, it's easier to do things like that together. You can get free plastic bags to collect plastic in and deliver them to the recycling plants. Some companies will actually pay 200 NOK for doing it, if you post a picture of it on the Norwegian equivalent of ebay.

@marguicha that’s great! A friend of mine reuses so many glass jars. I mostly reuse the plastic ones since they can’t be recycled here like peanut butter jars etc.

Companies have to be urged to stop using plastic bottles... maybe urged isn't the right word! It should be forbidden. I'm not sure how long we actually have before we destroy the planet. We all have grandchildren to consider.

I wholly agree. I would be willing to pay a little more for glass.

@marguicha Here they already had the recycling program when we bought the house in 1999. Four years ago they decided to get more serious. We receive a fixed numbers of garbage bags according to the number of people living in the house. If we want more we have to pay 5$ per bag, because it means we do not recycle correctly.

That is a great idea. Sometimes I end up with so many plastic bottles because of buying sodas and water.

Oh God the environment pollution is a huge problem that has to be faced up globally. I think not most people are aware of the huge damage plastic does to our world and oceans. Personally I always make sure not to buy too many liquids which package is made of plastic. I even use a plastic bottle of water that I have since a year ago.
