Camel riding in the Africa and India where we have been is just a money making activity, not for transportation usually. This was in Morocco, in an open field where there was no place to go, just a place to take a picture. In my experience, camel riding was quite uncomfortable, but I did it because I had not done it before, and I wanted to know how it would feel. Camels are not very agreeable animals, but for their purposes in the desert, they are adapted to their task, moving people and good across the sands. Their feet and eyes and noses and humps are adapted to desert life.

I had my only camel ride there - couldn't wait to get off it - horrible - loved Morocco though

I've ridden a camel before at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. I was less than impressed at the experience. I had much more fun riding the elephants, but I guess you won't find any of those in a desert! haha

We found elephants at a park in Nepal, and rode for a couple of hours, better than camels
