Buying a new or second hand mountain bike?

Not far from where I am staying in a big city, there are places where you buy second-hand bicycles. Along the road you will see long rows of second-hand bikes. I have a plan to buy one that I can use to go around the city while keeping my body fit. I stopped several times at different places to ask how much the bike is. From asking different sellers,I know that most second hand bikes are sold about 75% lower than the new one. A friend of mine told me that I could ask for a price 50% lower than the price they charge you. What about in your places, what is the cost of a second hand bike?

I'd think that before buying a second hand bike, we'd better check the price of the new one. At least you will pay a fair price.

If it's a surplus from Japan, it's super duper cheap. But if it's a high end brand one we could get it only directly from the owner. And it's about 50% cheaper.

@yanzalong It's too easy here. There's a cycling page on facebook and all cyclist enthusiast are on that page.

I am sorry but I have no idea. I think that the price of a second hand bike is more than 50% less than a new one.

@yanzalong I know for sure that a used car costs a lot less than half the price of a new car. I think it should be the same for a used bike.

Today it is not very popular to sell the bikes as we have sharing bikes here. We don't have to own a bike any more because the sharing bikes are everywhere and it is much more convenient to use it anytime. The charging is very low and I don't want to have my own bike today.

You are right, my friend. However, many people want to have pride in having their own bikes.
